Eat: Snack. Snack. Eat a Snack.

Eat a snack with Brown and Black. ~ Hop on Pop

I thought that it would be appropriate to continue our celebration of Dr. Seuss (which started here and here) with some Dr. Seuss inspired snacks.

I decided to go the literal route and not pick snacks that remind me of Dr. Seuss but rather snacks that are actually found in the text of his books. Here are some of the ones I found.

Green Eggs and Ham - This is a no brainer. Make dyed green eggs and ham, either with food coloring or for a healthier route, use spinach.

Freshest Fish that Finney Fries - Fish sticks, you can have three stacks (fresh, fresher, and freshest)
Green Grape Cakes - Just put green grapes in a muffin liner and call it a cake! Or if you are more ambitious, whip up a vanilla cake batter and sprinkle green grapes in before baking.

Fritz Food and Fred Food - Based on the pictures, this looks like corn puffs, i.e. Cheetos or Pirates Booty. Fritz' is orange so you can use Cheetos or Barbeque flavored Pirates Booty for that, and Fred's food is green so you can use Veggie flavored Pirates Booty for that one.

Gooey Goo - This looks like taffy to me, so unwrap some salt water taffy and call it "gooey goo". Or, if you are ambitious, make taffy yourself! (Check back tomorrow to see how we did it!)

Buttered Bread - Eat it buttered side up to be a Yook, or eat it buttered side down to be a Zook.

Doughnuts - a dozen to be precise
Jelly and Jam - eat it straight up or on toast or a sandwich
Lollipop - pretend you are a lazy lion while you lick it
Sodas - six of them, but then again, maybe you shouldn't do this since you'll just get sick, sick, sick.

Cake - enjoyed best while taking a bath with both the hot and cold water running

Scrambled Eggs Super - This is the recipe from the book: 2 eggs, 2/3 of a cup of sugar, small pinch of pepper, a pound of horseradish sauce, and some nuts
Scrambled Eggs Super-dee-Dooper-dee-Booper Special de lux a-la-Peter T. Hooper - This is the recipe from the book: eggs (not sure how many but a lot), 55 cans of beans, ginger, 9 prunes, 3 figs, 22 sprigs of parsley, 6 cinnamon sticks, a clove

What other Seuss snacks can you think of?
