Eat: Banana Date Cookies

Did you get chance to read about the real food challenge? Are you doing it? Are you going to do it?

Well, this recipe was actually sent my way by Jenn, the author of that post. I have modified it to be banana date flavored, but the ones that she made, which basically followed the original recipe, were great, too.

Baked on my highly seasoned bake stone.

But whether you are following the real food diet or not, these are some yummy cookies that you can feel good about eating and giving your kids. And they were easy to make. So healthy...yummy...easy to make...it's the trifecta of desserts. So go ahead, make 'em!
On principle, I don't eat cookie dough, but even I have to admit this looks pretty tasty. :)

Banana Date Cookies
adapted from Natural Papa

1 very ripe banana
1/2 butter, softened (I used soybean butter to make it dairy free for my little man)
1/2 cup honey
2 eggs
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 cup chopped dates

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
Mash the banana and butter together. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix until blended.
Ready for the oven

Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes.

What are some of your favorite healthy desserts?
